The New Apartment

Welcome to our new home in Guatemala!
Come in and check it out

This is the living room. Not much living going on in here right now. The couch will be here in 3 weeks. Right now everything echoes! (which is fun when listening to classical music)

If you look to the left you'll see the door to the kitchen..

The lighting needs to be changed so it doesn't feel like a hospital but I really like the colors and how the space is designed. (There's a door that closes to the kitchen for people like my brother who don't want the whole house to smell like garlic)

Here's the balcony from the living room. Hopefully we'll have a grill sitting there soon!

A little bit of the view from the balcony

This is the guest bedroom. Nice big closet and there's a big window to the rear left which provides excellent natural lighting.

This is the bathroom for the guest room, but don't call it the guest bathroom. There's a separate guest 1/2 bath by the front door for company of the non-overnight variety.

Master bedroom with the one and only piece of furniture. The new bed. I splurged and bought a duvet and LOVE it. There's also a big window in this room which I love. In the morning I watch squirrels jump around in the trees.

And to the left is the master bath and walk-in closet
No mirrors...strange right? Don't those come standard?

Here's half of the walk-in closet. Ironic that I gave away over half of my clothing and now I have this...

The rest of the master bath. The tub is over 5 feet long. Too long for a standard shower curtain so I'm currently on the hunt for a solution to that problem. In the meantime BATH only in here. Notice the bidet?

When you walk in the front door, immediately to your right is the Guest 1/2 bathroom. To your left is the laundry room (equipped with washer and dryer). This photo was taken standing in the laundry room. This is the "maid's quarters" As you can see, there's a small space for a bed and ANOTHER bathroom. That's right...4 bathrooms. No one will ever have to worry about waiting impatiently for the facilities. Lucas wants to turn this space into his home office since we don't need or want a live-in maid.

I'll take some photos of the building and add them. Every time I remember to do it, ITS RAINING!
The building has three separate security gates you have to go through to get to the front entrance or the garage (which is underneath the building). On the main level, near the mailboxes we have a nice gym with freeweights and machines. The apartment is about a mile from campus so Lucas can ride his bike there. We're also close to 2 shopping malls, movie theaters, Zona Viva (where all the great restaurants and clubs are), and a grocery store is right outside the front entrance. I think this will suit us just fine for the duration of our lease (1 year)
